5 Things To Know Before Listing Your Home
5 Things To Know Before Listing Your Home Selling your home can be a stressful time in your life. There are so many things to do to get the home ready, including finding a realtor who will make all those stresses a little bit lighter. One of the biggest destressors is knowing exactly what to expect as the process rolls along. Knowing what’s around the corner and being prepared for it is paramount to make home selling just a little bit easier. I’ve compiled a few things I think you should know before you list your home. Find A Realtor That Fits A great realtor will make the home selling process so much better. You’ll want to find a realtor in your area who is familiar with your particular needs. You won’t want to hire a commercial real estate agent to sell your family home. Find someone familiar with your neighborhood and city. And the most important part is finding a realtor who will listen to your concerns and questions. Depersonalize Your home This might be tough, especially if you’ve lived in your home for a while. You’ll want to begin removing items from your home like family photos, awards and certificates, etc. When you have prospective buyers walking through you want them to be able to picture themselves in your home. That’s tough to do with your wedding photos and your Dodgers bobblehead collection staring at them. Know It’s Worth Knowing the actual value of your home is an incredibly important step. The sentimental and the actual value of your home don’t always meet eye to eye. So managing your expectations early and setting a fair price will help in the long run. Your realtor can help you figure out a fair price to list at once you get that step in the process. Spruce Up The Curb Appeal Plant some flowers, give the front of the house a powerwash or replace the grass. The curb appeal of your home is the buyers first impression. The inside could be glorious but if they walk in with a sour note from the curb it might not matter. Schedule A Deep Clean Having a sparkling clean home will not only make you feel better but it will help put potential buyers at ease. Your tubs should be scrubbed, floors mopped, carpets vacuumed and windows washed. Spend the extra money to have a professional come and you won’t regret it. You’ll need the rest! This process is just getting started. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions regarding listing your home or help finding a new one.
